REVISITING 2020 RADIO

Under the leadership of our very ambitious CEO
Vaishali Thakkar, when the pandemic hit our
community, I knew FunAsia Radio will never stop
come what may. The show must go on.

Like many businesses, 104.9FM was directly
affected by the unprecedented COVID-19
pandemic. However, we approached this as a
challenge and continued serving the South Asian
community as we did in the past.

Initially, we ran the station with fewer RJs,
specifically those who felt comfortable coming
to work despite the shut down. After the first
two weeks we decided it was in every ones best CEO FunAsiA Vaishali Thakkar &
interest that our team stayed home and stayed Director of Operations Ambreen Hasnat
safe.
When it comes to our stations audio/visual the visionary leadership of our group CEO Sam
technology, I am proud to say that FunAsia is one Thakkar and the help of our Director of Technology
of the pioneers in viewable radio shows. Under Kamran Khan, we were able to equip all our on-
air talent to record daily shows which were aired
as per their original schedule. Through these
pre-recorded shows, the listeners got a sense of
normalcy which was otherwise scarce. Since the
shows were recorded daily, RJs were able to keep
the content fresh and up to date.

Although we were airing pre-recorded shows our
team brought content to engage the listeners. We
tried to give people a reason to tune in because
their normal patterns were gone.
