This year, for the first time, Herzlia entered a team into the World
Ort Taub Yep Entrepreneurial Competition – an annual
entrepreneurship competition. The program was offered to any and
all students who were interested in this unique, exciting learning
opportunity. The students involved are Sarah Allardice, Taya
Allardice, Tatum Benatar, Gemma Cohn, Joshua Daniel, Gabriel
Dubb, Aaron Schwartz, Jonah Schwartz, Adam Selikowitz and Jenna
Zetler – Herzlia High School students from Grade 9, 10 and 11. We
compete against other teams across the Southern Hemisphere like
Argentina, Brazil, Panama and also South Africa. The program is all
about developing entrepreneurial and teamwork skills and we do
this by participating in a number of team challenges throughout the
year as well as the main and final challenge where, as a group, we
develop a product and pitch it to a panel of judges. Each of the
challenges are scored and weighted and the team with the highest
overall mark, will win the title of ORT’s Young Entrepreneurship
Team of the year. So far we’ve completed an introduction
presentation which included an “impossible sell”, a market research
report where we performed a swot analysis on Apple Inc. and
presented our findings – and a business concepts report where we
had to brainstorm innovative, creative and relevant product ideas.
We received 8.8 out of 10 for our market research and full-marks for
our business concept report, the two highest marks for both
challenges, placing us in first position in the competition.
