An excerpt from the Book of Memoirs and Diaries, property

11 APRIL 1037
Dear Diary,
Things are going well here. I, Shao Mei, and Khao Hui have
just departed China. The weather is not bad, although quite hot
and dry. The air is far from humid, and all we can see are sand,
camels, more sand, and other merchants. The sky is very clear,
and the Sun is burning. We have good keffiyehs, though. We got
them from our last journey. All we can hear are camel noises and
their trotting, and the smell of them is horrible, just like their sounds.
My camel is called Xing, and he is not behaving right now. I just
talked to Shao Mei about our goods. He brought vases and silk.
I only brought silk, but also have plans on stopping somewhere in
Persia to buy some spices. Khao Hui really does not want to tell us
