EPTS WORLD CUP PROJECT
- A.Jason
The M1-M3 World Cup project combined all three Matthyom lower
levels (210 students) into an activity to represent the 32 teams
playing in the 2014 World Cup. The project brought together the
Geography curriculum for the lower levels (M1 Asia & Paci ic, M2
Europe & Africa and M3 North & South America) into a real world
event. All 32 countries were marked on their exhibitions in varying
degrees of dif iculty (M3s obviously being marked on more dif icult
components than the M1 students).
However this project was not only about grades. It was also
about the students learning Social Studies in an enjoyable and
knowledgeable way. The main World Cup event, held on Friday 4th
of June, was the climax of the 3 week project that had included lunch
time quizzes on a knockout basis (eventually won by the M2 group
Netherlands),student displays and of course the highlight was the
fashion show, won by Mexico.
All in all, everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and in the process
learnt about their respective countries and the other countries
taking part. It was great to see so many students putting so much
energy and creativity into this project and being able to gain
valuable knowledge about the Geography and cultures of countries
from around the world. It's just a shame, we have to wait 4 years
until the next World Cup. rld Cup.
