Lurking In The Dark
Quiet , it was too quiet for my liking. I sat alone in the dark as I
waited for the light to come back. As minutes turned into hours the
darkness slowly drove me to insanity. Being unable to see anything,
however, I felt a touch on my shoulder. I would have been relieved
if I was not alone in my room. I try to convince myself that I am just
being delusional and there is nothing to be frightened of.
I was wrong, I saw it there lurking in front of me, staring dead into
my eyes. I was never afraid of the dark, just what the darkness may
lead to. I started to think I was losing my mind, I wanted to get out
of this darkness as soon as possible. The silence was deafening, I
felt a chill down my spine when I heard a small whisper. I froze in
place and could see myself finding it hard to breathe.
“The darkness is not what you should be afraid of, it is what the
darkness contains that you should be wary off”
Even as it was pitch black, I could see its glowing eyes staring at
me. At that moment all I wanted was to get out of this nightmare
and as if the lurking figure
could read my mind, it faded away as the lights went back on. I
could feel cold sweat down my back, and from then on, I never saw
it again.
