Accommodation
Nurses may also check for accommodation. The nurse should point to the far
wall and assess the patient’s pupils, which should dilate in an attempt to accom-
modate for distance. Then, using an object or the examiner’s finger, have the
patient focus on that as it is brought closer into the patient’s field of vision.
Normal pupils will constrict at this time.
