Macrophage containing hemosiderin. Gold intracellular crystals composed of bilirubin.
Hematoidin is the result of the catabolism of
hemoglobin and may be present for several weeks
after CNS hemorrhage.
NOTE: Macrophages may display the presence of a
variety of particles within one cell. For example,
one macrophage may contain hemosiderin and
hematoidin.
