CHANGING THE FACE OF ACNE”

anaging ACNE has been the daily
story of our lives as dermatologists.
MOur commitment to perfecting the
intricate armamentarium for this common skin
disorder is ever changing and advancing. But as
#DermAuthorities, we don’t form it as individuals
but build it as a TEAM. The PDS Northern Luzon
Chapter successfully concluded the LEAP (Life
Enhancement Action Program) activity entitled
“Beyond the Basics: Changing the Face of Acne”
last July 14, 2019 at the Holiday Inn Baguio City,
Benguet where it was attended by a total of 45
attendees and hosted by Dr. Eugenio Pipo III.

Despite a chilly morning in the City of Pines, Dr.
Faith Kishi Generao, President of the Northern
Luzon Chapter, graced everybody with her
warm welcome remarks. Our guest speaker, Dr.
Rosalida Nadela, shared her expertise discussing
the causes, pathogenesis and management
of acne and acne scars, with emphasis on the
importance of early intervention. Indeed, she
captured everyone’s excitement with her own
version of “Family Feud”. A miniworkshop
followed entitled “YOUNIQUE: Understanding
others by understanding you” which was
conducted by sought-after strength coach, Mr.
Jayson Lo. It was a refreshing session as every
participant discovered their type of personality
(dominant, influential, steady and corrective),
learned about their strengths and weaknesses, PDS Northern Luzon Chapter Group with the PDS Officers and Guest Speakers
and managed to integrate these characters (Dr. Rosalina Nadela and Mr. Jayson Lo)
within a team for a more harmonious working
relationship.

The activity culminated with the Town Hall
Meeting headed by Dr. Peachy Paz-Lao.
Updates on the following PDS matters were
raised and discussed: 2019 Diplomate board
examination, Clinical Research Workshop, online
and automated registration in the upcoming
PDS annual convention, construction of the PDS
Head Office, Skin Week, Skin Fair, Skin Contact,
JPDS, IV glutathione prohibitions, reporting of
adverse effects of non-FDA approved products,
and PDS billboard advertisements. The closing
remarks was then delivered by Dr. Geraldine
Cadacio. PDS North Luzon Chapter LEAP Activity ending it with a BIG HOORAH!
