(MBE) Advocate of the Year
Championing the Cause of Inclusion & Equity
More than ever entrepreneurs of color understand their worth and the
possibilities to excel when the playing field has been even. Our MBE
Advocates are invested in the community – locally, nationally and even
globally. They seek to establish respect, parity and utilization for minority-
owned businesses. They seek to hold low-profile, low utilization
organizations accountable. They volunteer their resources and time, as
well as that of their team members.
An advocate is someone who provides support and a voice to people who
need it. Sometimes, as is the case with our nominees, advocacy efforts
take place behind the scenes. Their tireless but committed efforts on
behalf of the Council and minority business inclusion help to bring about
real change for certified MBEs.
As the Lorax in Dr. Seuss said, “unless someone like you cares a whole
awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
