‘Negro husbands’
According to German historian Raingard Esser
‘’Marriages between German women and black
American were never mentions in papers and
magazines. All the happy couples featured in the
photographs were white.’’ Paradoxically we found
multiple stories of marriages between white German
women and black American soldiers.
According to this article the search for husbands in
the US is a direct result of the nazi’s that ‘managed to
have 3,500,000 German soldiers killed on battlefields
from Norway to North Africa and directed the murder
of untold millions of Jewish men and women and
anti-Hitler youth. Many of these men would have
been of marrying age now’.
In the 1950’s there was
more fuss about interracial
marriage then nowadays,
