               Introduction


                                     1  Paper 1 of the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) is
                                        Listening.  The  aim  of  the  paper  is  to  test  candidates’  abilities  to
                                        understand spoken discourse at tertiary education level.

                                     2  Therefore, subjects and topics in the test will be of academic and

                                        educational environment. However,  it could also include  people
                                        and culture, financial awareness and consumerism, science and
                                        technology, and health and environment.
