EN31217 Listening and Speaking in English

Mattayom 4 Semester 1 40 hours 1.0 credit

This course will focus in providing every student knowledge that will enhance their

comprehension in listening and speaking in English communication. Students will be able to
express their opinions about different experiences, news, matters and various issues of the

interests of the society through speaking and writing. They will also be able to speak and write

appropriately to ask for and give data about themselves and other issues, news, or situations.
Students will be able to identify and write the main idea, analyze and interpret, and express

opinions from listening to or reading articles.
With classroom’s individual, pair or group activities such as recitation, presentations and

roleplays, each student will also develop their confidence and comfort in talking to the public

using the foreign language. Through individual work, pair work, group work, group discussion,
searching information, presentation, and writing activities which develop critical thinking skills.

Furthermore, with the use of audio visuals, students will be able to understand, analyze and

identify main ideas, key words and other important details from oral presentations or
conversations such as news reports, radio broadcasts, or other forms of conversations. This

course will also enhance student’s skills and ability in English vocabulary, grammar and
pronunciation.

In order to promote positive attitude towards learning English and build up desirable

characteristics and learners’ key competencies.

Objectives:
In these courses, you must design tasks, quizzes, and test papers to assess students as follows:

1. Identify the main idea, analyze the essence, interpret and express opinions from

listening to and reading feature articles and entertainment articles, as well as provide
justifications and examples for illustration.
