Read the passage below carefully and answer the questions that follow.

Walt Disney was an entrepreneur who became famous for making animated movies

and theme parks. When he was four years old, Walt’s family moved to a farm. It was at
the farm that he developed a love for art and drawing.
When Walt was about to start high school, his family moved to Chicago. He enrolled
in the Chicago Art Institute and started drawing for his school newspaper. When World
War 1 broke out, Walt joined the Red Cross and drove ambulances in France.

After the war, Walt returned home and got a job, f rst, at an art studio and then,
at an advertising company. During this time, he met an artist named Ubbe Iwerks and
learnt about animation. He created his own animation cartoons and started a company.
The cartoons were popular but he did not make enough money.

In 1923, Walt moved to Hollywood and started a new business. The animators
created a character called Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and the company was a success.
However, another company later took over control of the character and all of his animators
except Ubbe Iwerks.

Walt had to start his business again. He created a character called Mickey Mouse.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse starred in the f rst animated f lm with sound called ‘Steamboat
Willie’. The f lm was a hit. After that, he continued creating more characters such as Donald
Duck, Pluto and Goofy.
