University of Houston Clear Lake Center

      for Autism and Developmental Disabilities

      Research Opportunity

Graduate students at the University of Houston-Clear Lake are recruiting
participants for two separate research studies. The purpose of the first study
is to teach children to ask for help when needed. The study is appropriate
for children between the ages of 5-10 years with developmental disabilities

who do not ask for help when needed. The children should be able to
request items using at least three words, follow two-step instructions, read
short sentences, and work at a table independently for 10 minutes without
engaging in problem behavior. If you are interested in learning more, please
      contact Tessa Conaway at tessaconaway@yahoo.com.

The purpose of the second study is to teach individuals with developmental disabilities to make
choices among tasks. To be eligible, the individual must be between the ages of 7 - 17 years, able to
make choices between preferred items, complete tasks that they enjoy, and not comply with tasks
that they don’t like to do.
