School information briefings 2019
You may have attended the SCSA school information briefings for primary and secondary school and curriculum
leaders in Term 2. The slide presentations used in these briefings are now available on the SCSA website.
Changes to the WACE for Year 11s in 2020
The Term 2 newsletter provided information to schools about the changes to the WACE for Year 11s in 2020. All
information related to these changes can be found on the SCSA website. Under the changes, students starting
Year 11 in 2020 will now have an additional option to achieve their SCSA website.

Curriculum Advisory Committees—Feedback on P-10 Teaching, Assessing and Reporting Policy
A great many AISWA teachers have been involved in the inaugural meetings of the new Curriculum and
Advisory Committees, many of which occurred during Term 2. Committees spanning P-10 were asked to
contribute feedback on the P-10 Teaching, Assessing and Reporting Policy and Policy Standards. SCSA is
currently compiling this feedback and will present this to their Board for consideration.
New resources K-10—The Arts Learning Area
SCSA continue to add resources to their website to support teaching and learning. For example, new teaching
support materials have recently been added for The Arts. It is advisable to regularly check the Kindergarten to
Year 10 tab on the SCSA website to keep up to date with the publication of new resources.
Parent portal—NEW!
SCSA have recently launched a website for parents , answering questions such as What will my child learn? How
will my child be assessed? And, How is my child progressing? To view the portal click here.

New work samples available
Have you checked out ACARAs work samples portfolios? Portfolios demonstrate student learning in relation to
the year level achievement standard. They are interactive and allow teachers to compare work samples at
different levels of achievement to assist them in making reliable judgements. The suite of available work
samples can be found on the Australian Curriculum website.
