                                            African Masks

The pupils in year 8 Art and Design stud-
ied African art this term. They started
their lesson by learning about the differ-
ent African painters like Jimoh Bumairah
and Wole Lagunju. The pupils made their
own African paintings as a result of inspi-
        ration from African painters.

As a challenge, pupils needed to create
an African mask design out of materials
such as cardboard, bottle caps, and other
recycled items. Patterns, warm and cool
colors, and textures were used in their ex-
        ercise, which summarized their lesson.

The pupils’ African Mask project was a
great success and they were successful in
        creating their own unique design.
