            A letter dated 1886 from Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Yehuda                             ‫מתיבתא רבתא וואלוז'ין אל בנו חביבו רבי חיים ברלין‬
            Berlin, Av Beis Din and Rosh Mesivta of Volozhin,

            In his letter, the Netziv requests that his son review                            ‫במכתב מבקש הנצי"ב מבנו הגר"ח שיעבור על קונטרסו‬
            his "Yisrael Ba'amim" pamphlet since Rabbi Kosovsky                               ‫'ישראל בעמים' כי הר"ש קאסאווסקי העיר לו בשם‬
            had remarked to him that he be wary of printing it,                               ‫כמה אנשים 'כי יש לחוש בהדפסתו פן יבולע לי‬
            "…less it devour me and the holy yeshivah."
            This is in regard to the "She'ar Yisrael" pamphlet written                                                       .'‫ולהישיבה הקדושה‬

            by the Netziv and published in 1887 at the end of his                          ‫האנטישמיות והשנאה לבני ישראל שהדפיסו בשנת‬

            commentary on Shir Hashirim, where he discusses                                ‫] בשם 'שאר ישראל' בסוף פירושו על‬1887[ ‫תרמ"ז‬
            the source of antisemitism and hate towards the Jews.
            On the back side of the letter there is a response to a                        .‫שיר השירים רנה של תורה‬
            question posed by his son.

            Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Yehuda Berlin (1816 - 1893),
            also known as the Netziv, was the Rosh Yeshiva of the                          .‫השני חידושי תורה – תירוץ לקושיית בנו הגר"ח‬
            Volozhin Yeshivah. He began to study in Volozhin at the

            young age of eleven, and at age thirteen Rabbi Yitzchak     ‫ החל ללמוד בישיבת וואוז'ין בגיל אחת‬,‫ העמק שאלה ומשיב דבר‬,‫דבר‬

            years of in depth study he became Rosh Yeshivah, leading
