FACILITES DESIGN FOR VARIOUS FACILITIES FUNCTION
1. There are 4 types of manufacturing system has been discussed in this chapter,
a) Fixed Automation System
Material flow in the sequential manner. Often used for high volume production
and highly automated.
b) Flexible Manufacturing System
Able to manufactured large number of different part types. Used computer
control to track parts and manage overall flexible manufacturing system.
c) Reduction of Work-In-Progress
A few rules of thumb can be implemented in the reduction work in progress
such as handling less is best, eliminate combine and simplify, and moving
and storing material incur cost serves.
d) Just-In-Time Manufacturing
Just in time means having the right art at the right place and the right at the
right time. It can be divided into seven categories such as waste from
overproduction, waste from time on hand, waste from transporting and etc.
