5.4.2.2 Monorails, Hoists, and Cranes
- used to transfer material from one point to another point in the same general area
- Hoist are used to facilitate, the positioning, lifting, and transferring of material
within a small area.
- more flexible in movement path than conveyors but less flexible, than variable
path equipments (ie. industrial trucks)
a) Monorail
Consist of an overhead track on which carrying device rides (top
running or under hung)
b) Hoist
Lifting device that is frequently attached to a monorail or cranes.
It is manually, electrically or pneumatically powered. There are Jib
Crane, Bridge Crane, Gantry Crane, Tower Crane, Stacker Crane
