At the end of this chapter, student can:
1. Get better picture of facilities layout through objectives of layout planning, procedures
and principle of plant layout. There are a few principles that has to be determine
before making any decision on the layout proposed such as integration, minimum
distance, space utilization and many more that can be find in this chapter.
2. Three basic concept of production are job shop production, batch production and
mass production. The suitability of the three types of production is according to the
volume and standardization of the production itself.
3. Can solve layout problem using Systematic Layout Planning (SLP). SLP is the most
applicable model used to calculate and determine the best layout to be chosen. It
started with from to chart, relationship chart, space relationship diagram and the last
step is determine the best layout from the option in the relationship diagram.
