sulting unstable isotope. The unstable nuclei release
some energy through decay process where gamma ra-
diation, beta or alpha are released. The capturing of
free neutron in activation process is depending on the
element properties in particular the value of neutron
cross section. The energy of decay gamma or delay
gamma is depending on the type of element. For ex-
ample, Cobalt-60 decays into two delay gamma with
different energy, such as 1.1732 MeV and 1.3325 MeV.
Material with several elemental composition have mul-
tiple gamma radiations when activated. Neutron ac-
tivation has many applications especially for determi-
nation of elements in materials. Each element has its
own delay gamma energy. Therefore, information of
element in the materials can be obtained by neutron
activation analysis using gamma spectrometer device.
Neutron activation analysis technique has many indus-
trial, environmental and other applications. Nuclear re-
search reactor is widely used to apply neutron activa-
tion work for various applications.
1.7 Radiation protection of neutron
Radiation protection due to neutron itself is quite sim-
ple, because neutron radiation can be shielded by hy-
drogen rich materials or large neutron cross section
materials. However, neutron capture in shielding ma-
terial however produces gamma and other particles
