1.8 Neutron Gauging and Non-Destructive
Evaluation Principle

Neutron gauging is the apparatus or device consists of
neutron source, neutron detector and equipped with
comprehensive data acquisition system used for de-
tection of any abnormality of materials or components.
This device or apparatus than used to inspect, anal-
yse, evaluate, investigate, testing or examining the ma-
terials or components intrusively without left any dam-
age to the inspected object or component.

The principle of generating neutron source with a
type neutron energy discussed above is used to make
neutron gauging instrumentation. The technique to slow
down and shielding of neutron is applied in order to
make effective detection of neutron system. The prin-
ciple interaction of neutron with matters are useful in
the development of thermal neutron generation and
detection technique.Working procedure and handling
of neutron device is based on the knowledge of neu-
tron radiation protection.
