She opened and ran many schools in Kolkata. She also conducted

          many homes for parentless and homeless children. She worked

          with the lepers who were not liked in the society then. Her work

          and fame grew bigger and bigger. By 1979 Mother Teresa had

          expanded her work to more than twenty five countries in the

          world. She was recognized and helped by many people.


          Mother Teresa did not marry. She did

          not enjoy a rich life. She was always

          happy to serve the needy people. This

          owned her a great respect worldwide.

          She was awarded  the most reputed

          Nobel Peace Prize  in 1979.  She was

          also honoured  with the Pope  John

          Peace Prize.


          In the 1980s and 1990s Mother Teresa

          suffered from poor health. She had a heart attack twice in 1983

          and 1989. But she didn’t stop working. By 1990, her work had

          reached more than thirty countries. In March 1997 she selected

          Sister Nirmala,  a nun  from Nepal  to look  after her  work.  In

          August 1997 she celebrated her eighty seventh birthday and

          short after that she had a heart attack again. This time the cruel

          heart attack took her. She died on September 5, 1997. The whole

          world cried for this woman.
