Unit 1

Once there lived a shepherd boy. He used to take his flock of sheep near a forest to
graze them. One day being bored by loneliness, he wanted to make a fun. There were
farmers working near the fields nearby. He shouted, “Help, help! A tiger is killing my
sheep. Please somebody help me.” The farmers heard it and rushed to the boy but saw
no tiger. The sheep were grazing peacefully and the boy was laughing at them. Thy boy
repeated the same the next day. On the third day, a real tiger came and started killing
his sheep. He shouted for help but the farmers thought it a fun. He was not helped. His
sheep were killed.
Unit 2

Wahida : Hey Brinda, wait! Where are you going?
Brinda : Malekhu. Why? What’s the matter, Wahida?
Wahida : I have to send this package to Muglin.
Brinda : You can send it through a micro-bus.
Wahida : Is it reliable?
Brinda : Yeah, it is. Take the bus number and the driver’s phone number, send it and
inform the recipient.
Wahida : Great idea, my friend! I’ll do it immediately.
Brinda : Listen, you’d better go to Kalanki for this.
Wahida : I’ll do that. I’m leaving, bye!
Brinda : Bye! All the best!

Unit 3
This is Pappu Jha. He’s Indian but he lives in Nepal. He is a prisoner. Mr. Jha is 35 years
old. He doesn’t work or study. He can not read or write but he can play the flute very

well. He plays the flute everyday at 8.30 pm after dinner. The other prisoners like his
music. Mr. Jha likes the Hindi folk and Bhojpuri music but he does not like modern music.
His room number is 24 on the second floor. Mr. Jha is a happy prisoner. He wakes up at 5
am and has breakfast. He has black tea and chapati in the morning but doesn’t eat fruit
or drink milk.
