Lesson 9 local or Folk SonGS Unit 1

You must have heard people of differents places singing different songs.
Songs vary according to the culture and the customs of people. People

of different languages sing in their own language. Such songs are known
as local or folk song. Example Selo, Maithili, Chachar, Newari, Bhojpuri,
Jhyaure, Tappa, Basanta Pahagu etc. are the local songs. Such songs can
be heard in T.V or radio. Read the following examples of local song and
practice singing.
