Each chakra represents a spiritual life lesson or challenge common
to all humans. As a person evolves by giving more attention to the
deeper/higher aspects of life, she or he gains self-knowledge, wisdom,
and true power—all of which are integrated into spirit and the path of
spiritual consciousness. Thus, the Caritas Nurse is one who enters the
path of awakening and moving along this higher path for self while
honoring and supporting the journey for others.
CHaKra suMMarY
First chakra: lessons related to material-physical world
Second-third chakras: lessons related to sexuality, work, physical
desire, material possessions; lessons related to personal, emo-
tional, ego-driven personality and self-esteem
Fourth chakra: lessons related to love, forgiveness, compassion,
kindness, equanimity
Fifth chakra: lessons related to giving authentic expression,
bringing unique voice to bear upon life choices, will, and one’s
being with self and other
Sixth chakra: lessons related to open mind, intuition, insights,
vision, wisdom, surrender to greater source from the universe
Seventh chakra: lessons related to access to greater source from
infinite cosmos; related to one’s opening to the highest spiritual
source for consciousness evolution.
The Caritas Nurse is one who holds a high ethical-spiritual standard
of excellence for personal-professional lessons, growth, and Being-in-
the-world; one who awakens to his or her spiritual chakra archetypal
evolution to deepen the individual’s humanity. The Caritas Nurse is one
who works to ground self in the first three chakras to connect with
the energy of planet Earth. The challenge is also to work on opening
the fourth chakra and above to evolve as a more mature, civil, moral
human being, connecting with the deeper level of Divine nature.
Such personal-professional growth and lessons of caring-healing are
necessary for Caritas Nursing while honoring the basic needs emanat-
ing from chakras one, two, and three. Thus, the Caritas Nurse engages
in cultivating compassionate human caring, working from an open,
