respirator is for one-time use and the mask must
be molded to your face at the time of use,
learning the proper technique to fitting the mask
is imperative for safety reasons.
5 Biohazard Biohazards are infectious agents or hazardous
biological materials that present a risk or potential
risk to the health of humans, animals ro the
environment. The risk can be direct through
infection or indirect through damage to the
environment.
Biohazardous materials include certain types of
recombinant DNA; organisms and viruses
infectious to humans, animals or plants (e.g.
parasites, viruses, bacteria, fungi, prions,
rickettsia); and biologically active agents (i.e.
toxins, allergens, venoms) that may cause disease
in other living organisms or cause significant
impact to the environment or community.
Biological materials you may not consider to be
biohazardous maybe regulated by regulations and
guidelines as biohazardous materials.
6 Post exposure Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is any prophylactic
prophylaxis treatment started immediately after exposure to a
pathogen (such as a disease-causing virus), in
order to prevent infection by the pathogen and
the development of disease.
7 Link Nurse A link nurse is “a nurse that is, or is moving
towards being, an expert and resource person for
an identified topic of specialty practice, in which
they have an interest and passion”.
