Khanmakbeng
      Banana Leaf and Flower Offerings
Khanmakbeng is a typical floral offering in Isaan style. It is commonly found
in the northeastern region of Thailand and in Laos. It is religiously used as offering
to the Buddha image, to the monk, and to the stupa that houses the sacred relic.
The people of Isaan area also use khanmakbeng to pay respect to their ancestors.
A khanmakbeng consists of two parts: a banana-leaf cone at the center and the
surrounding decorative folded banana-leaf petals. While the tips of the surround-
ing petals are decorated with small single flowers, the top of the cone at the center
is adorned with a beautiful floral finial.
