Folded Lotus Flowers
The Buddha categorized humans into four stages of development. When a
Buddhist offers lotus flowers to the Buddha, it means the person is ready to be a
blossoming lotus, ready to learn and grow. Folding lotus petals into different
designs is a basic skill in the Thai floral art for young Thai ladies. Petals of a closed
lotus flower are folded in many different ways to create different forms of lotus
blooms. In this lesson, we fold the petals of a lotus flower to create a wind-wheel-
like blossom. Traditionally, these folded lotus flowers are arranged in a vase and
placed in front of a Buddha image as an offering.
