Takhai Dokmai
Floral Nets
Takhai dokmai literally means floral net in Thai. Takhai dokmai is not really
a piece of Thai floral work by itself, but it can be found as part of almost all
categories of Thai floral art, such as malai (garlands), khruang khwaen (floral
pendants), and krathong (floral floats). There are two of traditional Thai floral
pendants called chorakhe and takhai nachang that use floral nets as their major
components. In this lesson, we will learn how to make a takhai nachang from
small white gardenias and crown flowers. Takhai nachang is traditionally used to
place on the forehead of a ceremonial elephant.
