Yebbab Thad Hu
Sewn Petals on Layers of Banana Leaves
Yebbab are flower petals or small flowers that are sewn on layers of patterned
banana leaves of different shapes. The simple shapes are round, square, or diamond.
There are many types of yebbab such as thad hu, bab fuang, bab kanok, bab kleeb
bua. Thad hu is usually referred to yebbab in a simple shape of round or square or
four-pointed star. Thad hu are used to hide the untidy spots where threads are tied
together. They are also used to decorate bigger pieces of Thai floral crafts such as
floral pendants, floral domes on pedestal trays, and baisri or floral offerings for the
Gods.
