Bi-National Socioeconomic Handbook  2018  “Laredos Region“





             In the last two decades, the Laredo Customs District trade increased 354%, reaching $283 Billion by 2016,
             and growing more than twice as fast as the United States overall.  No other district dominates trade with
             one nation like Laredo does with our southern neighbor, Mexico.  The Laredo region offers expertise
             and efficiency in the movement of trade across our 3 north American nations and is one of the most
             significant ports by dollar value in the global market.  Add a growing economy, a vibrant community
             with a median age of 27, and nine months of sunny, beautiful weather…will make you glad you stayed!

             For the second consecutive year the Office of Global Initiatives of Texas A&M International University congratulates
             the Municipal Government of Nuevo Laredo for its Binational Handbook 2018 and the excellent work that they
             do. We believe that this document is a reference tool highly important that will help foreigners and investors that
             would like to know and understand the “Laredos’ Region” and its community. The Handbook is also an excellent
             source of information for its citizens, with which they can promote all the benefits of the Region.

             The Binational Socioeconomic Handbook shows the greatness of Nuevo Laredo and the Region as the most
             important border trading port of Latin America, being a key element for the competitive development in Mexico
             and the world.

             This tool, through its informative and statistical content shows a general vision of the social, cultural, academic
             and business landscape that informs the competitive advantages that our city has to offer to the entrepreneurs,
             investors, researchers and young students.


             Likewise, this document will be very helpful in developing research projects done in the academic sector, which
             help the professional strengthening in the young university students, who represent the determinant factor in
             the socioeconomic progress of our city.
