Our governments are in a crucial moment. The shared challenges in terms of safety, economic development and
our borders are only a few examples of the reasons why our cooperation and communication must prevail and
be more solid with time.

Our countries share their people and culture in this region, making Los Dos Laredos one community. The
economic development of Nuevo Laredo, has a big influence in our neighbor city of Laredo, Texas. Therefore,
in this important moment, the handbook will be for the first time binational and jointly performed by Los Dos
Laredos with the objective of attracting more investment and development to the region.

I congratulate the Institute for Competitiveness and Foreign Trade for the initiative of facilitating this useful
handbook for every foreign visitor and investor.

It is very satisfactory to, once again, see the results of the hard work of our friends of the Instituto para
la Competitividad y el Comercio Exterior de Nuevo Laredo (ICCE), who present this year a brand-new
edition of the Bi-National Socioeconomic Handbook 2018 “Laredos Region“. A tool that is not only
very useful, of course, but visually very attractive as well, thanks to its generous use of graphics, pictures
and colors.

The Bi-National Socioeconomic Handbook keeps getting very popular as one of the preferred reference
material for investors, entrepreneurs, visitors and general public interested in having at hand an updated
version on relevant aspects of Nuevo Laredo and of this border region, for information purposes, analysis
and decision-making.

This publication continues to present to the reader, in a well-documented way, the importance of the
Nuevo Laredo-Laredo region to the Mexico-US economic ties. It is enhanced with lots of practical
information, such as the services and government directories. It is worth mentioning that it also gives
us interesting information about important aspects for the out-of-work life: recreation and restaurants.
