2. Tell students to listen and watch. Say
the first verse of the chant, opening
your book on the last line (where you
say please).
Ask pupils why you opened your book
then.
3. Say more verses in a similar pattern
and ask pupils to do the actions when
you say please. You could vary the
speed and/or volume of your voice.
4. Introduce a new pattern (with Now).
You could try to trick the pupils into
doing the action before eliciting that
there is no ‘please’.
5. Continue in this way, mixing up the
verse patterns.
6. Ask pupils to make their own
puppets* (or at least one for each
group).
