Happy Birthday Jesus Party
th
Friday, December 6 from 5:30-8:00pm families of ALL ages are welcome to come and participate in
celebrating the birthday of our King. You do not have to be a child to enjoy the evening we have
planned. We have games for toddlers to adults. We’ll have a picture booth, Karaoke, and so much
more. Light dinner will be served at 5:30 and we will end the evening with a special birthday cake.
Bring friends, neighbors, people you work with, etc. The entire evening will be all about the events
that led to the birth of Jesus. This is no cost to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Operation Christmas Child – 22 boxes were packed and
specially shipped by Sunday school children (Missions paid
for the shipping and tracking of those boxes.) Another 203
were filled by our congregation. They were prayed over
th
during November 17 services. Chick Chat group was kind
enough to deliver them again as they have for the last few
years. Thank you to all the ladies who helped!
Milestone brochure
I want to keep reminding you of what is to come. In January, our ministry plans on communicating
this program to the congregation in person, with brochures, speaking before services, etc. Our first
st
st
milestone of 2020 will be in February for 1 graders. 1 graders will receive an apron with the
words “serving Jesus” embroidered on it. It will take place during the services on a date yet to be
st
determined. Both 1 graders and their parents will come to the front of the church to receive a
special blessing as our children continue to grow in Christ.
th
Fleece blanket night and informal chili cook off – Friday, January 17 from 6-8 or 8:30 pm. We have
a great opportunity to share chili as we make fleece blankets for the Canteen Run. We will be doing
an informal “chili cook off”. Anyone is invited to make their chili and bring it to this event in their
crock pot. We can taste and enjoy the different styles of chili made by others. ( I will provide sour
cream, crackers, macaroni and drink). Families will come and make fleece blankets for those in
need. Children understand those basic needs and have compassion. So, together we can make a
blanket and fill out a card to be presented with the blanket to remind that person that they are
loved by Jesus and prayed for. Parents do the cutting and the children do the knotting. We ask that,
if you are able, that you bring 2, two yard pieces of fleece which will make the blanket. Bring your
good scissors to cut the fleece. We would LOVE donations of 2, two yard pieces of fleece so we can
make more blankets or provide fleece for those who could not bring any, but want to make a
blanket. Donations are being accepted now and can be left inside the office by Briana’s desk. There
is no cost to attend, just come ready to have food, fun, laughter, and the use of your hands.
Children 6 and younger will be provided free childcare. To RSVP for childcare contact me at
th
gail@savoyumc.org before January 10 .
