1.3 Export Potential in International Business

A company needs to have a potential or key success
factors prior to venturing into the global market.

     Company's Foundation and Performance
     • To be successful, the company must have a strong

financial base, as well as an existing, healthy domestic

market. Exports from that company are far more likely to
succeed as a result of this.

     USP – Unique Selling Proposition

     • Products that are ideal for export, particularly those with
a strong track record in the home market or a unique

selling proposition, have a better chance of thriving in

the international market. A company's strengths in

Customer Relationship Management (CRM), for example,
could be a Unique Selling Point USP (CRM).

     Finance and Funding Growth
     • A company with a strong financial basis has an

advantage and has a better chance of succeeding.

Otherwise, it must be able to obtain financial resources in
order to support the additional investment in both

working capital and capital expenditure that is required.

Companies that are unable to raise the necessary
finances when they are needed are unlikely to grow,

regardless of whether they are doing business abroad or

          at home.
