A one-day training for students was
organised in “Creative learning” at Paravur
Government Higher Secondary school
with Prof. Achuthsankar as the resource
person in 2016. In July-August 2017,
VMFT began a pilot school outreach
programme “Connecting learners with
community” with two government high
schools (Vakkom and Parvur) with Dr. O.
G. Sajitha as Resource Person. Another
one-day training in “Experimental science”
was conducted at Vakkom Government
Vocational Higher Secondary school with
Prof. V. K. Damodaran as the Resource
Person during November 2017.
The original programme “Connecting
learners with community” had two
components: (i) “Learning to learn”
– encouraging students to engage in
problem solving and address social
issues and (ii) Career Guidance. Focus
groups discussions with the Headmasters,
teachers and PTAs helped in designing
the programme.
