5.Expected Date of Completion: 31/03/2024
6. Project Summary(Max. 200 words):
The proposed program will focus on the applications of remote sensing in the field of
environmental science, geology, geography and disaster management. Special focus area
would be on North-East India. The program would highlight the use of current remote sensing
technologies and publicly available datasets. Applications like flood mapping, vegetation
assessment, environmental changes, crop health monitoring, landslide mapping, air quality,
glacier monitoring using satellite imagery is critical, particularly in the underrepresented
region of North-East India. The aim is to bring researchers working in the area to impart
training on recent findings with use of remote sensing. This would contribute for the
betterment and upliftment of the states of North-East India. It would enable new researchers
to learn emerging technologies and algorithms in remote sensing that can be utilized
extensively in North-East India. The project is proposed to be continued in 2021-22 and 2022-
23 as well, since regular programs with recent advances on the topics will be useful for
researchers.
