1.6.3 Controlling Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems
Many customers, who are already using several KNX functions in their buildings, wish to
give bus capability to existing conventional technology in some form. This is particularly
the case in existing room ventilation and air conditioning systems which were previously
manually operated.
These types of installations have a cooling ceiling where water can penetrate and which is
controlled by a magnetic valve. They also have a multi-level fan which is switched
according to requirement when the ambient temperature rises.
KNX modules have taken over the task of controlling these types of installations. The
room temperature, the control commands for the valve (either directly or via a binary
output) and the control commands for the three fan levels (via a 3-fold binary output) are
required as I/O interfaces).
