The success of the Chinese
Communist Revolution in 1949
attract Chinese students who
became drawn to socialist
ideology, becoming more
articulate and behaving
individually. They are upset
and targeting Chinese
campuses. Students in many
Chinese schools in Kuching
founded the Student Self-
Governing Society with the aid
of Communists. Independent
association of student protests
in Chinese middle schools.
Since the British felt
endangered, they forbade this
society because of communist
influence. With the
establishment of the Sarawak
Overseas Chinese Democratic
Youth League, Communist
involvement in student
protests persisted. As a result,
there is proof that there is
another way for communists
to exploit students.
