Our entire body benefits from a clean, healthy mouth. Good oral health is essential to general
well being at every stage of life.
A healthy mouth allows us to eat a wide range of foods, aids speech and promotes self-esteem
and confidence.
Our mouth and face exhibit signs of good health and also of disease and these can serve as
useful indicators of general health disorders and a prompt for further investigation. For
example periodontal (gum) disease can be associated with undiagnosed or poorly controlled
diabetes.
Regular dental examinations and hygienist appointments will help to promote good oral
health, allow the early detection of dental problems and potentially generate further
investigation of possible underlying general health issues including oral cancer.
As the Olympic games draw to a close it has been striking how many Olympians have
fabulous teeth and smiles that have outshone their medals on the podium.
An Olympic medal may be beyond our grasp but a healthy mouth and beautiful teeth are
within most people’s reach.
Why not book an appointment at 854 Dental Health and see what we can do to improve your
oral and dental health – it could be your first step to a winning smile.
