WORLD
Almost 70 percent
of Earth’s fresh water is frozen
into solid ice. Most of it forms ice
sheets and glaciers in the Arctic,
Antarctic, and high mountains.
But just a few thousand years ago,
these ice sheets were far larger.
The land they once covered
still bears the scars of
these ice ages.
