bracket and weld it in between the main body of the bracket and the sawn
off bit containing the adjustment slot. In other words you have just made
the arm holding the slot 1 cm longer .That’s the first part finished.
Grind off the stud on the part of the bracket
that fixes to the engine. Temporarily put the
two halves of the brackets .ie. the bit that is
attached to the engine and the swivelling part
together by putting a bolt in the top hole. Put
a punch through the centre of the slot to
make a mark on the back bracket. (This
doesn't need lengthening as there is more
than 1 cm to spare). Drill a hole in there in the back bracket, thread it then
put in a threaded stud and weld from behind to secure.
Threaded stud lowered by 1cm on the
fixed bracket. This bracket does not need
to be extended as it is long enough to al-
low the stud to be relocated,
You should now have the same layout as
before except the stud and slot are 1 cm further down and well clear of the
pulley.

and belt
Bolt it back to the engine, tension the belt and
tighten the adjustment nut with ease. I used a
box spanner but you could easily use a ratchet
spanner as you can work from in front of and
underneath the pump. From now on adjust-
ment takes a few minutes and is a complete
