BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

M⸫W⸫ Asa L. Brown
1864-1865
Asa L. Brown, Master of Walla Walla Lodge, No. 7, was elected
Grand Master. He was born May 3, 1828 at Westport, N.Y. and
he learned the blacksmithing trade in Illinois. He was another
Washington pioneer who joined the California gold rush in 1849.
He returned to Illinois in 1856, and again came West to Walla
Walla in 1862.
He affiliated with Walla Walla, No. 7 on a dimit from Marcelline
No. 114 of Illinois. He lived in Washington Territory only five
years. He removed to Plattsville, Wisconsin in 1867 and entered
the mercantile business there. He took a dimit from Walla Walla Lodge and affiliated with Melody
Lodge, No. 2, of Wisconsin, and served as its Master, and latter as its Secretary. He died at
Plattsville on Aug. 28, 1908.
