1. Q. sri gary, things that seem to satisfy others do not fill
my emptiness, but I keep chasing them anyway. Is there a
purpose behind all of the futility and disappointment in life?
A. That is a wonderful question, and I am happy to
offer you my heartfelt response. Before turning to spirit,
truth seekers are going to follow every desire, urge, and
pleasure they possibly can. They may buy the perfect home,
get the new car, and amass abundant possessions; they may
find Mrs. or Mr. right, explore love, get married, and have
many children, but eventually they will come to a screech-
ing halt. When does this screeching halt manifest? When
they are at total odds with their own lives.
Individuals who have had a difficult life and are very
weary from chasing life’s pleasures are actually quite for-
tunate, because they have begun to realize that life is not as
pretty, perfect, and romantic as they were told it would
be by their parents and society. Thus, when they have had
enough of the endless futility of trying to find happiness by
changing their immediate circumstances and external con-
ditions, ironically, they find themselves in the deepest level
of bondage they have ever experienced. This is when the
true seeker will turn one’s face toward the spiritual pursuit.
so, if you are experiencing this sense of bondage
within your present life, please do not be dismayed. This
is one of the divine deity’s supreme intentions – to entice
