The Bavarian forest stretches north to the Danube, between
Regensburg and Passau. It is part of Central Europe’s largest
woodland and provides idyllic grounds for a variety of
outdoor pursuits. The local rocks contain large quantities of
quartz, which contributed to the early development of the
glass industry here. To this day, the region produces some
fine, blown-glass artifacts. The region also hosts a number
of popular festivals throughout the year.
