                                                       The Harz’s second-highest peak, the
                                                       Wurmberg (971 m/3,186 ft) is a venue
                                                       for many outdoor sports (open daily).
                                                       In winter, the ski lift (www.wurmberg-
                                                       seilbahn. de) of the resort town of
                                                       Braunlage is used by snow boarders.
                                                       In summer, the Wurmberg’s chairlift
                                                       carries hikers to a good selection of
                                                       trails. Hiking from the summit to the
                                                       base takes around 1.5 hours.
                                                       ª Turn right on to Pfaffenstieg, left
                                                       on to Am Amtsweg, then right on
                                                       Harzburger Strasse. Turn right on the
                                                       B4, and in Bad Harzburg turn left on to
                                                       Harzburger Strasse. Take the B498 and
                                                       get on to the B241 to Goslar. In Goslar,
                                                       turn right and then left to the car park.

                               One of Germany’s most attractive towns, Goslar is famous for its
