       ‘First do no harm’ is a key principle of
       naturopathic medicine, and implies that
       any treatments used should be non-toxic,
       use the least amount of intervention
       possible, support and promote the body’s
       own healing ability and minimise the risk
       of harmful side effects. It is quite opposite
       to many drug-based treatments, which
       can cause uncomfortable side effects that
       often require further medication.

                                            Meet Charlotte Vøhtz, founder of Green People (greenpeople.co.uk)
                                            NH: What inspired you to create Green People?
                                            CV: My daughter Alexandra sufered from very sensitive skin and was plagued
                                            with eczema. So, in 1994 I began searching for natural products that didn’t
                                            contain harsh chemicals, but despite various marketing claims, there weren’t
                                            any truly natural and organic beauty products on the market. This then led me
                                            on an exciting journey of researching and formulating products that would help
                                            Alexandra and everyone else sufering with skin sensitivities.
                                            NH: Are there any big changes you’d like to see in the beauty industry?
                                            CV: Making certiied organic products available to all is important to us. There
                                            are no ‘grey areas’ in certiied products, meaning consumers can trust their
                                            buying choices. We’re delighted to carry badges from three diferent certiication
                                            bodies and proud of what this represents. Transparency is one of Green People’s
                                            founding principles and we continue to be fully open with our ingredients listings
                                            on all products, meaning consumers can trust in what we do.
                                            NH: What’s next for Green People?
                                            CV: It has been an amazing journey from my kitchen table to the company I run
                                            today, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Green People is part of my DNA and
                                            is a relection of my values and views on sustainability, ethical practice and living
                                            an organic lifestyle. Watch this space as we continue to break barriers within the
                                            organic beauty industry.
