SPACE
ALERT
Space is a dangerous place.
If you survive the launch,
you must face the perils of
Earth’s orbit. Maneuver
your spacecraft through
the hazardous mass of litter
orbiting Earth. These pieces
of floating debris—or space
junk—range in size from
tiny flecks of paint to large
disused satellites and hurtle
through space at a runaway
17,400 mph (28,000 km/h).
At this speed, a fragment
that is just 0.04 in (1 mm)
across has the impact of
a bullet. Avoid the space junk
to achieve maximum points.
A weighty issue
Game on! There are millions of
items orbiting Earth, and
more than 13,000 of them
are larger than 4 in (10 cm)
in diameter. Their combined
mass is estimated to be
an incredible 5,500 tons
(5,000 tonnes!)
3, 2, 1… blastoff!
LIVES Prepare yourself to be blown
away… to space! Strapped to
a chair in a tiny metal cabin, on
top of a rocket full of explosive
chemicals to fire you into orbit,
try not to use up all of your lives.
