        Exploring the Galleries
        The Honkan is the museum’s main building, housing Japanese
        art from ancient finds to modern masters. To its east is the
        Toyokan, housing non-Japanese Eastern art. The 1909 Beaux-  Did You Know?
        Arts Hyokeikan is usually closed to the public and opens only
        for special exhibitions. Behind it is the Gallery of Horyu-ji   Ukiyo-e translates
        Treasures, containing stunning objects from Horyu-ji Temple,   as “pictures of the
        near Nara, and the Heiseikan, which hosts exhibitions of   floating world.”
        archaeology. Access to all of the museum’s buildings is included
        in the cost of one admission ticket, so set out to explore
        as much of this expansive museum as possible.
